Timber Bed On Castors take 1

This bed is a perfect example of a product which could definitely be designed and manufactured to be entirely cradle to cradle, and yet when i made it in circa 2001 i was not yet enlightened with a good understanding of cradle to cradle design. I have called this take 1, as i have sold this bed so that i can make myself another one in a completely cradle to cradle fashion. Even with this beds misfortune of being non C2C design, it still wasn't a bad design for a bed and i still like the look of it today. It was made from recycled timber floor boards and the bed head is an old hollow interior house door which I re-venerred with off the shelf real timber veneer and framed with recycled hard wood. The bed incorporates both storage and ventilation on its under side. It was designed for futon mattresses but could be used for any mattress. The doona cover which features on the bed in these photos was also made by me, it was made from a lovely piece of fabric that was an op shop fiend by a friend of mine.

(excuse the less than ideal photos and arrangement here, They were taken while i was moving house and in a rush to sell the bed.)
